Sangria Hoppin’

Believe it or not, the holiday season is upon us yet again.  If you’re anything like me, you’re probably rushing around trying to deck the halls, bake scrumptious cookies and buy thoughtful one-of-a-kind gifts.  The problematic part is that the traditional hustle and bustle of the holiday season often gets in the way of finding enough hours in the month to spend time with your best friend.

So this year, my best pal and I have decided to forgo our usual gift giving routine and instead spend some quality time with one another celebrating…wait for it…National Sangria Day.  Yes, believe it or not, there is a National Sangria Day.

On December 20th, which happens to fall on a Friday this year, my best friend and I have planned our 1st Annual Sangria Hop.  To be perfectly honest, our plan is relatively simple.  We’re going to get dolled up and hit, or more accurately hop to, a number of restaurants and bars in one of the trendiest areas of town.  While there, we’ll have a few nibbles and a significant number of sangria sips.  What?  It is a Sangria Hop, after all!

Although we do a lot of things together, my best friend and I haven’t really spent time bar hopping in a long time.  I mean, a really long time – like back to our twenty-something days.  We’re not only looking forward to spending some quality one-on-one time together, talking about everything that’s new and exciting in our lives, we’re also anxiously anticipating the varieties of delectable sangria we’re going to taste.  If you know anything about sangria, you know there are thousands of varieties available, with various combinations of wine and fruits that combine to make the most delectable drinks.

So, this holiday season, why not create a new tradition with your best friend and give the most precious gift of all – your time?  Whether you sip sangria at home, have a nice dinner for two or take our idea and create your very own Sangria Hop, you’ll find that the time spent creating memories with your best friend is better than any other gift you could possibly give.  Yes, as far as I’m concerned, National Sangria Day is proof that there is, indeed, a Santa Claus!

Best Wishes for a Sangria Laden Holiday Season,

 Lori
